THE last time Jenny Spink raced in Cardiff was on her international debut for Great Britain in the World Half Marathon Championship – a day that ended badly as she limped off the course with a bad calf injury.
It has taken almost six months to get back into decent shape and for Jenny (picture left when Jenny Jagger) to feel she is ready to take on a top class field in the Cardiff 10k on Sunday.
“The calf has taken a long time to heal but I feel ready and my training recently has been going really well,” said Jenny.
“I don’t feel nervous at all; I am just more excited about racing again injury-free and, if anything, I am even more determined now.”
It is worth recalling that twelve months ago Jenny set her personal best of 34:07 in the same event. I am sure that a year on she will be happy to get finish within a minute of that mark.
