Harrod and Jones both on the podium in Gloucestershire League

JAMES Harrod has been confirmed as the under 20 men’s champion for the 2021/22 Gloucestershire Cross Country League season.

The Thornbury Running Club member didn’t contest the third and final match at the local Odd Down Country Park course but then with two back-to-back second places under his belt he was always going to be hard to beat.

For Westbury Harriers their best result came in the under 11 girls’ age group with Elsa Jones and Lola Simpson finishing third and fourth overall to help the club place second overall.

Bath-based Max Davis, who representing Avon won a silver medal in the senior boys’ 3000m at the 2019 English Schools’ Championships, continued his return to form after a tough couple of years with an emphatic win to seal overall victory in the senior men’s competition.

Team Bath AC wrapped up the senior men’s team title after overhauling favourites Western Tempo in the final match while their women, led by former junior international Amber Gascoigne, won the women’s team prize.
