Hannah, Abdi and Dalis race to superb victories in opening Gwent League races

RESULTS are always a little slow emerging from the Gwent Cross Country – especially from the young athletes’ races – so this is a catch-up on the opening fixture from the other week.AbdiHasanHannahHobbs

But it is definitely worth recording that Westbury Harriers produced three individual winners from their impressive contingent of 78 athletes who made the trip to Bridgend.

The talented Abdi Hasan won the U15 boys’ race, Dalis Jones raced to victory in the U13 girls’ event in what was amazingly her first Gwent league race while the experienced Hannah Hobbs (pictured left with Abdi at the South West Schools’ last winter)

struck gold in the U17 women’s age group,

In addition there were second places for Kate Howard, and Aidan Noble (pictured right), while Elen Ruck, Tilly Spinney, Ellie Hobbs, Aidan Noble, Bryn Davies, Seamus Robinson and Emma Journeaux all finished in the top 10 of their various races.

The next race in the Gwent schedule will be at Llandaff Fields, in Cardiff, on November 8th with Blaise Castle, Bristol, to follow on December 5th.
