Alex Hamblin (69) shoots straight into the lead shortly after the start on Sunday

ALEX Hamblin smashed the course record to win the Easy Runner Rodway 10k multi terrain race on Sunday.

Hamblin, who is a member of Westbury Harriers, dominated the race to win in a time of 36mins 48secs, to carve 52 seconds off the previous record.

That was held by Niall Moroney of Emersons Green Running Club, who coincidentally was runner-up to Hamblin on Sunday in a time of 38:18.

Third was another Westbury Harrier, Brendan Moroney in 39:25 with Aidan in fifth first junior and sixth-placed Robin Phillips picking up the veterans’ prize and round off a good day for the Harriers.

Leading woman in 11th place overall of 169 runners and completing a Westbury double triumph was Vicky Tester in 42:06, which was a minute outside Helen Newbury’s course record of 41:06.

Robyn Ellis (42:29) made it a Westbury one-two with Chippenham Harriers’ Emma Haley third (43:000).
