Give yourself a present – sign up for the Saltford Santa Dash!

BUT entries are still being taken for Saltford Santa Dash on Sunday December 6th.

The Saltford Santa Dash project was first established in 2013 with a view to providing a festive community fun run. The event’s organising committee also sets out to raise funds in aid of selected charities supporting young people and having a local link.

In the last two years over £25,000 has been raised and some 1,500 runners and their supporters have participated in a festive fun day out.

The 2015 Saltford Santa Dash, which is supported by Easy Runner, is an event for any novice, proficient runner, jogger or walker.

The event for adults and juniors aged 12-16 years old sets off from the Saltford Sports& Social grounds and winds 5 miles around the picturesque lanes of Saltford and Keynsham.

In addition there is a Mini Santa run, within the sports ground, for runners under 12 years.

“With 700 adult santas and 300 mini santas it makes for quite a spectacle,” said a spokesman for the race.

Two charities have been selected to receive support this year and both have committed to undertake projects in the Saltford/Keynsham area.

Time2Share provide a befriending service to give disabled children and young people, who may be socially isolated, the extra support and stimulation they need. By linking volunteer  ‘befrienders’  to disabled young people the charity gives them greater independence and fuller participation in social and leisure activities.

The Carers’ Centre is another local charity supporting carers in our community. They offer advice, breaks away from caring, emotional and practical support to those who give up their time and energy to look after family members or friends.
