high jumper Tom Gale (pictured left in Poland) celebrated his international debut with a superb personal best to move outright top of the UK Rankings for under 20 men.
Gale, who is a member of Team Bath and competes for Bristol & West AC on the higher qualification rule, cleared 2.18m to finish ninth in the final at the World Junior Championships in Poland.
Gale then went close to 2.21m but that will come another day.
But a top ten finish in his first major championships completes a fantastic season for the 17-year-old from Trowbridge.
He recently won his first English Schools’ title, has his first GB vest and is now top of the UK Rankings for the first time. It doesn’t et much better.
