Felix handed England vest for top mountain race in Bavaria

WESTBURY Harriers’ Felix McGrath has been selected to represent the England Under 23s team in the Hochfelln Mountain Race in Bavaria, Germany, on Sunday.

McGrath (pictured below left)  is one of just two runners selected and will be joined by Tom McGuinness of East Cheshire Harriers.

“This is an felixmcgrathimportant development opportunity for England U23 athletes and is intended as a stepping stone to senior GB representation,” said a spokesman from England Athletics.

“The Hochfelln Mountain Race is a prestigious race in the mountain running calendar and attracts top athletes from across Europe.”

McGrath finished a creditable 17th in the GB senior trial for the World Mountain Running Championships at Keswick (uphill only) in July and was the first U23 athlete home and thereby earned his place on this U23 development trip.

Team Manager Neil Wilkinson commented:  “Felix and Tom have made great progress this year and the experience this event will provide should enable them to move forward towards successful senior careers in mountain running.”
