GREAT to see Ellie Wallace competing at the latest British Milers Club Grand Prix at Loughborough on Saturday night.
The North Somerset AC runner, who is coached by Julian Emery, showed up well in a strong field to record a time of 16mins 38.42secs for seventh on her debut at the distance on the track.
It was also a North Somerset club record for Wallace (pictured far right)
Only at the end if last month Wallace ran 16:58 to finish third woman at the South West PB Series 5k held around the Odd Down cycle track, her first time under 17 minutes for the distance on the road.
As a measure of the quality of her latest run the time lifts Wallace straight to third in the South West Rankings behind City of Plymouth’s Poppy Tank (15:47.07) and Olympian Jo Pavey (16:21.01).
Wallace’s time also nudges her ahead of former Avon team-mate Ellie Leather, who ran 16:40.28 in America, in April.
Also at Loughborough Bristol & West’s Thomas Baines ran a PB of 1:49.60 to finish runner-up in the men’s 800m C race.
