Ellie clocks up another personal best

ELLIE Wallace’s amazing start to 2022 continued at the Battersea Park 5k road race on Friday night.

The North Somerset AC runner (pictured left) lopped twelve seconds off her lifetime best with a time of 16mins 04secs  to finish sixth in a hotly contested race won by American sub 2hr 30mins marathon runner Allison Kieffer in 15:52 with the Cardiff pair of Charlotte Arter runner-up (15:56) and Cari Hughes third (15:57).

The performance enhances the great start to 2022 by Wallace and her coach Julian Emery.

“It was a fantastic run by Ellie on Friday night (and) she beat some great runners,” said Emery.

She started by winning the South West Cross Country Championships senior title then in the Street 5k last month Wallace clocked 16mins 16secs, equalling her PB from last year.

She then switched surfaces to follow up that up with a PB of 4:24.79 for 1500 indoors at the Cardiff Met GP meeting.

So, what next for the in-form Wallace?

“The 3000m at the indoor British Championships on the 27th,” added Emery.

On her current form and with her confidence clearly high Wallace should have nothing to fear when she lines up for that race.
