ELLIE Wallace made a welcome return to action after illness forced her to miss the South West Schools’ Championships in the latest Gwent League event in Newport.
On a flat but challenging course the Westbury junior (pictured left) finished fourth, Ellie Leather eighth and Emma Journeaux 10th as the young squad really made their mark.
It was good to see Katie Hughes back in action after a knee operation in 24th and there were further good runs by Kirstie Hamilton-James 30th, Emma Jones 48th, Emma Woodworth 55th, Tamsin Tamsin Elson Chick 62nd, Jeni Stevenson 69th, Alison Osborne 80th, Caroline Bull 91st, Anneke Bull 109th, Sandy Masters 132nd, Svetlana Jones 150th, Sandra Sforza 149th, Sarah Gould 155th, Carol Fee 159th, Marilyn Palmer 161st, Eithne Noonan 186th, Linda Phillips 191st, Sandra Bailey-Gard 221st and Louise Pretty 226th.
Leading finisher in the men’s race was Scott Campbell in 13th followed by Alex Hamblin 29th, John Whitmarsh 53rd, Alan Uren 57th, Ken Ham 105th, Richard Noble 110th, Dave Clark 149th, Ewan Paton 158th, Mike Mewse 167th, Paul Harrod 182nd and Jullian Bailey-Gard 249th .
