Double silver from Bristol & West’s U13 boys and senior women

BRISTOL & West AC came away from the Midland Cross Country Championships with two team silvers.

The under 13 boys’ set the ball rolling with a fantastic performance at Prestwold Hall, near Loughborough, which was a late switch after the venue at Stafford Common was declared unusable due to flooding.

The team was given a great start by Jack Bannister in eighth and he was well supported by Fred Hawker (22nd), Aidan Oscroft (31st) and Otto Kingston (40th) for a total of 101 points for second behind Stroud AC.

Their feat was matched by the senior women in the penultimate race of a cold afternoon. Helen Sharpe (9th), Annabel Granger (12th), Julie Belyavin (21st) and Francesca Eddy (34th) scored 76 points behind Birchfield (54pts) but ahead of Charnwood (113pts), even though sisters Jane and Juliet Potter gave Charnwood an almost perfect start finishing first and third respectively.
