Diamond funding boost as she is kept on World Class Programme

BRISTOL & West AC international athlete Emily Diamond has retained her place on the British Athletics Olympic World Class Programme (WCP) for 2021/22.

Diamond (pictured right) has been named again in the Olympic Relays section along with 15 other athletes who will receive support and funding as they prepare for the 4x100m and 4x400m events at the World and European Championships next year.

Diamond is one of just three athletes from the West Country to have made the list of  67 athletes handed funding for the next year.

Team Bath AC high jumper Tom Gale (pictured left) has retained his place in the Olympic Podium Potential squad, comprising 26 athletes, a reward for his success at the Tokyo Olympics in the summer when he made the final.

The third athlete is young Cornish pole vaulter Molly Caudery, who is one of just eight athletes benefitting from a new category called the Athlete Performance Awards (APAs).

This has been introduced to support athletes in their first 1-2 years on the World Class Programme and provide a period through which the potential of the athlete is explored and confirmed.
