DAN Jones enjoyed one of the best runs of his career to finish runner-up in the Brooks Snowdonia marathon.
The Team Bath AC runner, who was running on his own from nine miles, clocked 2hrs 36mins 46secs to finish 1min 41secs behind Russell Bentley.
Jones’ time is only 2mins 02secs slower than his lifetime best of 2:34.44 which he ran in the super-fast London course last year.
Bearing in mind that Snowdonia is one of the toughest, hilliest marathons in the UK that suggests Jones’ PB will fall next time out.
“I will run London next year and hopefully get close to 2hrs 30mins,” said Jones.
For Bristol & West Neil Light, who has a best of 2:58.39 set in London, finished 11th in 3:22.17 while top local woman was Weston AC’s Debbie Jones in 3:26.44.
