WHY don’t local clubs support the Avon Road Relays?
On Sunday Stuart Hancock and Kath Britten worked tirelessly to put on the event for a second year with a nice course from Cleeve Cricket Club.
As an event a road relay is a great way to foster team camaraderie, enjoy a different race from the usual 10k or half marathon and basically have some fun and banter. Perfect for the autumn.
So how come it only attracted seven clubs?
Bristol & West AC was out in force and joined by Clevedon AC, Hogweed Trotters, Thornbury Running Club, Westbury Harriers, Weston AC, Wells City Harriers.
What about other local clubs like Southville Runners, Bitton Road Runners, Nailsea Running Club, Town & County Harriers, Team Bath AC to mention just four.
The organisers allowed Wells to compete as guests this year and hopefully more clubs from Somerset will follow their example in 2016.
