REPRESENTING the Royal Navy in the Marine Corps marathon in Washington DC, Bristol & West AC’s Chelsea Baker raced to an impressive victory in 2hrs 42mins 38secs.

Baker not only enjoyed victory but also a personal best, carving over four minutes off the 2:46.57 she ran at the Wrexham Elite marathon in April.

That, in turn, was also an improvement on the 2:57.11 – her first sub three – she clocked in London in October last year so that is three marathons in twelve months – and all PBs!

It was Baker’s fifth marathon in total having made her debut in the 2019 London event (3:15.55) and later that year recorded 3:22.48 in the same Martine Corps event that she tackled yesterday.
