CHARLOTTE Green has already enjoyed a great summer and last night it got even better with news that she has been picked for her first England vest.
The 31-year-old Bristol & West AC runner’s reward for winning the 3000m steeplechase at the England Athletics Championships last weekend was selection to represent her country at the inaugural Manchester International a week on Wednesday (August 17th).
“When I first started running the big aim was to try and win an England vest so I am absolutely delighted,” said Charlotte (pictured above in a recent British Milers’ Club meeting).
The match will also include teams from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and a Great Britain Under 20. Charlotte is the only west athlete named in the England team.
But before then Green is back in action for her club in their third and final UK Women’s League Division One match at Sport City, Manchester, on Sunday.
Green will be giving the barriers a rest this weekend but is still likely to line up for the 400m, 800m and 4x400m relay.
