Bristol & West AC runner Richard Boyes smashed his personal best to finish fourth in the Southampton half marathon yesterday.
Boyes completed the course in a time of 1:16.08, slashing almost three minutes off his previous best of 79:03 set at the Bristol half two years ago.
That time left Boyes just over a minute behind Taunton’s Ben Tull in third (1:14.59).
Former B&W runner Tom Merson (pictured right) won the Britain’s Ocean City half marathon in Plymouth completing the testing course in a creditable time of 69:46.
Merson was the only man to break 70 minutes as his nearest rival, Bideford’s Jack Hutchens, finished almost three minutes adrift in 72:34.
The only other runner to make the top 50 was Thornbury Running Club’s Sean Ledbetter in 31st (1:24.56).
Good to see GWR stalwart Michael Willcox still racing well as he finished third in the ‘Vintage’ age category – is this a nee approved term? – at the Bridgwater half marathon yesterday. Willcox clocked 2:02.27.
