CONGRATULATIONS to the Westbury Harriers senior women’s squad – the new Avon county champions.
The scoring four of Floren Scrafton, Catherine Treble, Katie Hughes (pictured right) and Lucy Richens totalled 26 points to edge out host club Team Bath AC by just four points.
Scrafton continued her fine form this autumn – 18th at the British Cross Challenge in Cardiff then third in the Oxford University Cuppers match in October – to finish runner-up in the Avon Championships behind Bristol & West’s Chelsea Creak.
Treble rook the bronze medal while Hughes finished fifth and Richens sixth. Then to underline the strength of the club in yesterday’s race Vicky Tester was seventh and Tamsin Chick 10th as the Harriers packed six in the top ten.
Sandy Masters, who finished second veteran over 55 in Avon and Nicola Derrick also competed.
