Another PB as Hamblin’s hot streak keeps on going

NORTH Somerset AC’s Ben Hamblin broke his personal best at the Cardiff 5k road race last weekend.

In-form Hamblin (pictured above thirds from the left), who is a student at Loughborough University, clocked a time of 15mins 12secs to finish 30th in a very strong field. That time shaved three seconds off the mark he ran at the Battersea Park in February.

Remarkably Hamblin, who is coached by Julian Emery, had a best of just 15:53 last year which he ran in the Yeovilton 5k last summer so he is enjoying a great start to 2023.

Just a second behind in 33rd was Team Bath AC junior Dylan Stoneman (15:13) while the Bristol & West AC pair of Owain Jones (15:30, first M40) and David Awde (15:50) finished 44th and 67th respectively.
