GOOD to see Abdi Hasan notch up a season’s best to win the senior boys’ 800m title at the Avon Schools Track & Field Championships.
The Cotham School student, who competes for Westbury Harriers, was in a class of his own as he finished well cleasr of the field in a time of 1mins 57.3secs.
In difficult conditions and virtually running solo against the clock that was a fine effort and there is no doubt he will go much faster, maybe even on Saturday when he turns out for Avon at the South West Schools’ Championships in Exeter.
It is surely only a matter of time before he betters his lifetime best of 1:55.5.
Also look out for Bath student Max Davis. He recently made his debut for England over 10k on the road in Italy and on Saturday he smashed his PB to win the senior boys’ 1500m leaving Sam Gentry trailing in his wake.
