JESS Mackie will have good reason to remember the Hannover 10k as she smashed her personal best in the German road race last weekend.
Before Hannover the Bristol & West AC runner (pictured right) boasted a best of 38:12 set at the Newport 10k last year. On Sunday Mackie not only went sub 38 for the first time but can now set her sights on breaking 37 minutes as she clocked a sizzling 37:21 to finish third woman.
The time is the 14th quickest in the South West this year so far and is the third fastest by a veteran.
Team Bath’s former GB junior international Amber Gascoigne, now a W40, heads the way on 36:31 with Gloucester ACs W35 Gemma Collier on 37:14.
Coincidentally both Collier and Mackie are cached by Matthew Long.
Mackie’s time is also the quickest by a B&W woman in 2022 edging her ahead of Amy Partridge (37:23).
Mackie’s latest PB comes on top of a PB of 18:13 in the Cardiff parkrun last month.
