Top Marks to Fiona – she is flying!

FIONA Marks smashed her personal best to finish top woman in the latest Aztec West Fast 5k road race.

The Bristol & West AC runner (pictured left) cantered to victory in a time of 17min 22secs to slash 25 seconds off her 5k road best.

Runner up was her training partner and clubmate Olivia Sadler (17:52), as she just got the better of Nicola Brookland who clocked 17:53 to finish third and first W35.

Jarlath McKenna (pictured right) was overall winner in a steady 15:27 while clubmate Phil Radford made it a B&W one-two in 15:36, carving 20 seconds off his previous PB.

In third place was Michael Towler of Avon Valley Runners in 15:53.

In the age categories race regular Aidan Noble of Westbury Harriers was first U17 in 17:01.

Leading veteran over 40 was Mark James of Cheltenham Harriers in 16:22 while top M45 was Martyn Green of Thornbury Runners in 17:48, just one second ahead of first M50 Jeremy Mower of Gloucester AC.

The first M55 and a regular winner in this category was Ken Ham of Westbury Harriers in 19:14 and Jon Goodland of B&W was the first M60 in 20:32.

The final race of the 2016/2017 series will take place on Tuesday 27th June when the event also hosts the Avon County 5k Mob Match,
