BRISTOL & West AC team-mates Maciej Bialogonski and Harry Allen were both celebrating a successful day in the Virgin Money London Marathon.
Allen was the first local finisher in the open race placing an excellent 12th in a time of 2hrs 23mins 30secs on his debut at the distance.
Bialogonski (pictured above) finished just 10 seconds behind in 2:23.40 which carved 3mins 16secs off the PB he set when winning the Abingdon marathon in October last year.
“It was bloody hard (and) the last 5k I was struggling but I did it,” said Bialogonski.
“It was amazing.”
Also from B&W Andy Drake clocked 2:36.59 and Graham Breen 2:35.19 which should leave the club well placed in the team competition when results are finally confirmed.
Westbury Harriers’ leading man was Tom Gange in 2:47.35, breaking his PB of 2:51.44 from Boston last year with Alan Uren just behind in 2:48.24. Uren’s time was also a handsome PB as he carved almost 10 minutes off the mark of 2:57.10 he recorded in the Cork City race two years ago.
