In-form Millar soars to sixth in South West Rankings after 5000m PB

JACK Millar broke his personal best by over four seconds at the Milton Keynes PB Special 5000m event on Saturday night.

The Bristol & West AC runner (pictured right at the front of a cross coutry race for Oxford University)  followed up his recent course record of 14mins 45secs at the Westbury 5k road race with a time of 14mins 29.15secs to finish fourth in race 10 of this highly popular meeting.

That beat his previous best of 14:33.90 set at the BUCS Championships in May last year and lifted him to sixth in the South West Rankings, just ahead of clubmate Pete Le Grice.

Harry Allen was also in PB form as he clocked 14:43.77 in the same race to carve a huge chunk off his previous best of 15:06.60 set a year ago. That places him 10th in the South West Rankings and fourth fastest in Bristol & West AC.

Racing his first 5000m on the track since his debut in 2015 when he won the Somerset title at Yeovil in 17:20.84 Team Bath’s Aaron Pritchard smashed his best with a time of 15:18.51 which puts him top of his own club rankings.

Milton Keynes PB Special 5000 – race 7: 2 Aaron Pritchard (TB) 15:18.51 (PB); Race 10: 4 Jack Millar (B&W) 14:29.15 (PB); 14 Harry Allen (B&W) 14:43.77 (PB). 12 races in total.
