Hannah marks Gwent League senior debut with superb victory

WHAT a fantastic debut by Hannah Hobbs racing her first senior women’s race in the Gwent Cross Country League yesterday – as she claimed a brilliant victory.

The Westbury Harrier stepped up to the top age group for the first time and performed like a seasoned veteran with a powerful performance to clinch victory.

“She made cruising in first place look comfortable,” said Westbury spokeswoman Tamsin Elson Chick.

“The quality of the ladies field this year has been high so whilst making this look easy it is such a tremendous achievement, so well done Hannah.”

Katie Hughes ran one of her best races and just missed the top ten in 12th. Behind her Sophie Voller (29th), Evita Gonzalez Szamocki (30th), Kirstie Hamilton-James (33rd), Jayne Pemble (49th) and Trish Robson (50th) all making the top fifty.

Other Westbury scorers: Emma Woodworth 55th, Tamsin Elson Chick 57th, Maria Eriksson Hobbs 107th, Clare Eskell 116th, Sandra Sforza 144th, Anneke Bull 149th, Shirley Hume 156th, Marilyn Palmer 196th, Eithne Noonan 231st, Victoria Sloan 256th.
