Bristol sprint ace Stone gets England call-up for Manchester International

BRISTOL sprinter Chris Stone has been selected in the England team for the Manchester International next Wednesday (August 16th).

The Bristol & West athlete, who is a former winner of the Easy Runner/Bristol Post athlete of the month competition, has been handed the 200m berth on the back of his performance at the England Championships where he finished second.

Also in the team is Team Bath’s rising high jump star Tom Gale (pictured right(, who competes for B&W in the British League as a higher qualification athlete.

The Manchester International will take place at Manchester Regional Arena (formerly known as SportCity). It sees the England Athletics team taking on Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland & Ulster, a GB & NI Under 20 team, Denmark and a combined British Athletics League/ UK Women’s League team.

Team manager Sarah Friday said: “It is a great honour for any athlete to win a national title and we are delighted that many of those who won at Bedford are having this opportunity to represent their country in front of a home crowd. It has been great to hear from athletes about how much they are looking forward to competing for England and making a mark in this competition.
